CDS Concentration Dilution Calculator

Dilution calculator

Dilution data

Enter the initial concentration, the desired final volume and the target concentration. The tool calculates how much original CDS and how much water correspond to the final volume.

Basic explanation

What is it for?

It is used to reduce an already prepared CDS solution to a lower concentration. It does not calculate protocols, medical doses or the manufacture of chlorine dioxide.

  1. Look at the initial concentration on the label or on the result of a measurement and enter it in C1.
  2. Decide how much you want to get and enter that total volume in V2.
  3. Indicates the final concentration what you need in C2. It can never be higher than C1.
  4. Press Calculate dilution and read the two quantities of the result.
C1
ppm
Concentration of the original solution.
V2
mL
Total amount you want to prepare.
C2
ppm
It must be equal to or less than the initial concentration.
Scientific explanation

The calculator applies the dilution equation C1 × V1 = C2 × V2. The amount of solute is conserved and the volumes are assumed to be additive. C1 and C2 must be expressed in the same unit, here ppm.
